Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Celestia Astro ("Celestia," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App") available on Apple's App Store and our website at celestia-astro.app ("Website"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App or Website, you consent to the practices described herein.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information. This section aligns with the data categories disclosed in our App Store Privacy "nutrition labels."

Information You Provide Directly:

  • Birth Information: Name (or display name), date of birth, time of birth, and location of birth — used solely to calculate your astrological birth chart (planetary positions, houses, aspects) and generate personalized readings.
  • Partner / Comparison Information: If you use the compatibility feature, you may provide another person's name and date of birth. This information is used only to generate compatibility analysis and is stored locally on your device.
  • Support Communications: If you contact us via email, we collect your email address and the content of your correspondence to respond to your inquiry.

Automatically Collected Information:

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, preferred language, and time zone — used to ensure the App displays content correctly.
  • Usage Data: Features accessed, screens viewed, and interaction patterns within the App — used to improve and optimize the user experience.
  • Crash & Performance Data: Diagnostic data, crash reports, and performance metrics collected through Apple's standard crash reporting frameworks — used to maintain App stability.

Information We Do NOT Collect:

  • We do not collect precise GPS location. Birth location is entered manually by you.
  • We do not collect financial or payment information. All payments are processed entirely by Apple.
  • We do not collect contacts, photos, health data, browsing history, or any data from other apps on your device.
  • We do not use any advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Generate personalized horoscopes, birth charts, transit insights, moon readings, compatibility analysis, and cosmic tips based on your unique natal chart.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's core functionality and user experience.
  • Validate subscription entitlements through Apple's StoreKit framework.
  • Diagnose technical issues, fix bugs, and monitor App performance.
  • Respond to your support requests or inquiries.
  • Send you optional push notifications (e.g., daily horoscope reminders, transit alerts) — only if you explicitly grant notification permission through the iOS system prompt. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings.

4. Tracking & App Tracking Transparency

Celestia does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not participate in ad networks or data brokers. We do not use Apple's IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers). Because we do not track you, the App does not display Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Our App Store Privacy label reflects "Data Not Used to Track You."

5. AI-Powered Content & Data Processing

Celestia uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized astrological readings. Here is how your data is handled during this process:

  • When you request a reading, your calculated birth chart data (planetary positions, house placements, and aspect patterns — not your raw personal information such as full name or exact birth date) is sent to our AI processing service hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI.
  • AI requests are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after the response is returned to your device.
  • Cloudflare processes AI inference requests under their privacy policy and does not use customer data to train models.
  • AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies and should be treated as entertainment, not professional advice.

6. Data Storage & On-Device Architecture

Celestia is designed with a privacy-first, on-device architecture:

  • Your birth information, preferences, saved readings, and journal entries are stored locally on your device using Apple's native storage frameworks (UserDefaults, SwiftData).
  • We do not maintain a central database or cloud account system containing your personal information.
  • Subscription status and purchase history are managed entirely through Apple's StoreKit 2 framework and App Store infrastructure. We never see or store your payment details.

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Apple App Store & StoreKit: For app distribution, subscription management, payment processing, and receipt validation. Apple's privacy policy governs these services.
  • Cloudflare Workers & Workers AI: For API hosting, ephemeris calculations, content delivery, and AI-powered reading generation. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies. Cloudflare is GDPR-compliant and does not sell personal data.
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs): For delivering optional push notifications. Notification tokens are managed by Apple's infrastructure.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies. We do not integrate any third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

8. Data Retention & Account Deletion

Since your personal data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times.

To delete your data, you can:

  • Open the App → Settings → "Delete All My Data" to permanently erase all birth information, saved readings, preferences, and journal entries from your device.
  • Uninstall the App from your device, which removes all locally stored data.

In compliance with Apple's account deletion requirements, the "Delete All My Data" option within the App provides a complete data removal mechanism. Because we do not store your data on external servers, no additional server-side deletion is required.

Server-side data retention: API request logs (which contain only technical metadata such as request timestamps, response codes, and anonymized request identifiers — no personally identifiable information) are automatically purged after a maximum of 7 days.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable age, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@celestia-astro.app.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object: Object to certain processing of your data.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly by using the App's built-in data management features (Settings → Delete All My Data). 11. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell or share personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

12. European Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland:

  • Legal Basis: We process your personal data based on (a) your consent (which you provide by entering your birth information), (b) contractual necessity (to provide the App's services), and (c) our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the App.
  • Data Controller: Celestia Astro is the data controller for personal data processed through the App.
  • International Transfers: Your calculated chart data may be processed by Cloudflare's global network. Cloudflare maintains appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses for international data transfers.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data via the App's settings and ceasing use of the App.

13. Do Not Track Signals

The App does not respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals because we do not engage in any cross-site or cross-app tracking. Our practices are the same regardless of any DNT setting.

14. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • All data transmitted between the App and our servers uses TLS/HTTPS encryption.
  • Personal data is stored on-device using Apple's native secure storage mechanisms.
  • Our server infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare's network, which provides DDoS protection, WAF, and SOC 2 Type II certified security controls.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Displaying a notice within the App for significant changes.

Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
